Summer Blockbusters of 1985

Welcome girls and boys to the beginning days of summer. The heat is on, the rain seems to be setting down and Texas may get dry in a few weeks. I thought this week we would discuss the upcoming blockbusters of the summer and then I thought, I really don't want to see that many flicks on the big-screen for that cost of ticket and junk food. Instead I thought we would turn back the clock to a different time. That time is 1985.

GIT TO THE CHOPPA... Oh crap that's Arnold's line. Meh.

Mikhail Gorbachev had just taken office for the Soviet Union, Lionel Richie and Cyndi Lauper just won the American Music Awards, Live Aid in Philly and London raised over 50 million dollars for famine relief in Ethiopia and Mexico City got slammed with a 8.1 earthquake killing no less than 9,000 people. The time had a lot of good and bad in it much like any other, but we had our entertainment of films of this era that to this day are near and dear to our hearts.

So strap yourselves in, fire up that flux capacitor and get ready to speed out to 88 mph (miles per hour for you folks across the pond.) This is Summer Blockbusters of 1985.

Jeez, Mom is grabby.
