Drive-In Grindhouse

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. It appears that I have been called upon to review some new work of director/editor Dustin Ferguson (Doll Killer, Die Sister, Die!, Gloved Murderess, Cheerleader Camp: To the Death, Invitation to Die, Nemesis 5: The New Model and Robowoman). Yes years ago I was sneering at Camp Blood 4 when the young director contacted and reopened my eyes to Indie Horror. Forgot the roots but no longer is that an issue. Thanks to Dustin. So I am to look at an anthology set of Indie Horrors and first off, you got to love this level of networking. Men and women gathered under the mutual love of the genre and organizing to showcase their work. Edited by SoCal Cinema Studios and produced by A Troma Team Release via B movie master Uncle Lloydie himself, Lloyd Kaufman. This is Drive-In Grindhouse a.k.a. Grindsploitation 8.

Perhaps a Killer Queen. Dynamite with a laser beam?

Admittedly, the production companies, MrSheltonTV Media and Schlock Productions made my Spidey senses tingle but again the company names are clearly in good fun. So let's sit in for some faux trailers and some short story horrors. With a grand tally of 15 directors, these short stories and faux trailers could be a bit. 3 and a half hours long to be exact. Let's see how it goes.

We open with an eerie synthesizer effect and a flyer for virtual reality wanting volunteers, will pay! Yeah experimental tech is always good to be a guinea pig. A big fella is there for the Grindhouse Experience and a slightly creepy guy invites him in. Why the big guy needs dish washing gloves is beyond me. With a VR rig establishing all forms of Exploitation, a menu drop down rig allows the user to immerse with the each subgenre. Nunsploitation, Naziploitation, Blaxploitation, Sexploitation, the ever popular Women in Prison (popular way too much for some of my readers) and Uncut or Uncensored if you will.

With a direct link to the neuro pathways, the VR sprite is attacking and our boy is getting the feedback through his nerves as if he has been assaulted with weapons.

And down, down the rabbit hole we go. FYI, we just saw the opening segment as credits. Trippy, right? Few title cards and some death metal later, we open to folks toking in a car as we are having a meta key (a creation referring itself or the conventions of the genre) moment, the actress in Moon of the Blood Beast is with friends watching the film within a film. A trailer for the Moon of the Blood Beast which has a decent narration as the girl is stalked POV style and right into another exploitation trailer using its previous footage. Looks like I put in the trailers for Hard Boiled, The Prowler and Not of this Earth. MUUUUtant Monks From Outer Spaaaaace!!! What? I can have fun too, you know. Hmm guess this would be Aussieploitation?

Vash the Stampede??

Our first segement is Phantoms of the Fog by director Chris Milewski (The Cold Eyes of Death, Violets Bloom at an Empty Grave, The World of Shadows and POE 4: The Black Cat). It's got a real Amando de Ossorio, Tombs of the Blind Dead vibe with its opening shoot. Possibly a Lucio Fulci, City of the Living Dead feel. A Vietnam Horror themed film? Cool. A soldier (Ryan Fargo of Wannabees, Phantoms of the Fog and Drive-In Grindhouse) awakes in this fog ridden land and hey bonus points director, for having him in an M-65 field jacket!!! Props, people. Loving them.

With no firearms, blade, radio, rations or water, our grunt stumbles through the jungle not knowing where he is. There's something out there. It lives...in those woods. Stalking our young soldier. Finding an empty range bag, ammo box and a working coms, soldier calls for a position. He looks decidedly creeped out and with good reason. He's being POV stalked. Soldier boy is hung up on a crude EOD (Explosives Ordnance Device) and something is still lurking out there.

Our next short story Death Like Me directed by Ruben Rodriguez (Sisters, It Requires Sacrifice, They Exist, Zombie, 60 Seconds to Die and Just Desserts) tells the tale of a home aide Genesis (Ghevon Sebastian of Emotional Intelligence, The Quad, Black Lightning, Vengeance: Killer Lovers) with a deep seeded need for murder. Bet that didn't get put on her resume. Also seems a bit intorverted, so yeah not very outgoing in the least. Shot with a black and white filter post production, sets more of a tone or maybe even shades of grey.
Her friend Luis (writer/director/actor/second unit and editor Will Fonseca of Table One, Billy's Choice, Winter Solstice, El bandido, and Here to Stay) is trying to get his party on but Genesis is dragging her feet. With elements of Poe sprinkled in, our girl bit of a creeper. Obsessed with the notions, dreams and even random flashes of death, the girl seems lost.
A hapless drunk (Lucio Fernadez of Magic Sticks, 30 Rock Vampire in Union City, the Death of April and Paiting Linda)lands in her lap, providing her such options. Now I am not saying she's unhinged but she is having a conversation Believe the clinical term is: "Crackers!!" Naturally one hits the bar to drown the crazy voices in her head when she gets a Cosmo sent to her by a secret admirer. With a little light conversation, some miscommunication, Genesis takes her back to her creeper pad. Just not in the fashion you are probably accustomed to.

Hmm Fulci or Mattei influence?

With a trailer of Curse of the Monkey Beast an exploitation I completely spaced to mention Kung Fu flicks. Yeah a monkey beast must fight for honor as a white guy spanks this monkey up and down the grounds. Let us not forget the terrifying Beast Rage, ghost house and cannibalistic tendencies, oh my. Another quick bit of Kung Fu is Sifu vs The Undead Warrior. I think the Chromeskull and robed villain of the piece is supposed to be Jiangshi (Chinese Hopping Vampire that sucks Qi). Dear God it is amazing some of the goofy trivia I know. Sifu (Clive McKenzie of Project V: The Viper, Show Me Da Money, Merry Kissmas and Halloween Creep Tales) is locked in mortal combat with a being of ancient standing and dark forces, the Jiangshi (John H. Shelton of Z (Zombie) Reviews, Fragile Minds, Clownsploitation, Grindsploitation 666, Halloween Hell Night and The Isolated Heart). Sifu must defeat his awesome nemesis and then continue to walk the Earth, writing wrongs. Moving on.

SUMMON IRON FISTS!!!

Hmm an sepia blend, some girl experiencing blood letting, a random shot of a horse in a corral. Umm take that Jean Paul Satre! Um something something, madness takes over. Regret and shame. Any who.

Now how about a 15 minute saga of Inanna, the Queen of Heaven? Director/actress/producer Tritia DeViSha (Kali Geisha Erotica Grotesque, Exit from Eden: The Story of Lilith, Cannibal Barbecue and Inanna, The Queen of Heaven) with an ancient goddess made flesh Inanna, Goddess of Lust and War seeks to rule her lands with fairness but is almost prone to a temper.  No I am not doing a sexist joke.  Respect my boundaries.

After the armies of Gilamesh (Andrew Lutomski of Counter Play, Vikings Now and Inanna, the Queen of Heaven) came before Inanna, she invites Gilamesh for a conference...in her bedroom...clothing optional. Though a striking beauty, Gilamesh keeps his wits about him. Guess it's like sleeping with a crazy girl, the sex can be amazing but palm a blade just in case. Spurned by Gilamesh, Inanna made demands the mightiest warrior to slay her would-be betrothed. The Bull of Heaven (Matt Jones of Silver Strand, Traffik, Neighbours, Night Shift and Drive-In Grindhouse) was summoned to do her bidding. Dude's pretty cut so maybe substitute lover? Just an idea there, Inanna. Slaughtering dozens of his men, the Bull and Gilamesh (Way to step in late, brah) mix it up.

Can a Sumerian use a Trojan? Gonna need one soon.

Next up seems to be a satire on the roaring 20s as the inhabitants of this dinner party I am convinced escaped the loony bin. Squabbling among themselves during the funeral of their late grandfather we have a couple with the couth of NASCAR fans, a gold digging flapper and a pompous professor. Using a Ouija board (because that's never a bad idea) the hopeless quartet conjures a minor spirit guide who warns them this game is pretty standard but not to dip their hands into the treasure of jewels, for it will unleash the denizens of Hell loose upon them, dragging them down, down down. And apparently a meta time shift. Must have been wibbly wobbly. Being the greedy and foolish asshats that they were, of course they took the jewels.

A few more phony trailers. Got to say liked Sanguine Addiction for pace and warped notions.

On to Roulette. A couple are killing time or just need more of a thrill in their relationship so why not some Russian Roulette? Skipping some levels there, people. Get a marital aid or a threesome going. Going right to the revolver? What will you have to look forward to in your golden anniversary? But of course the game gets interrupted by a Mormon. Mary (Chasiti Vannatta of Amateurs, Roulette and Drive-In Grindhouse) and Henry (Josh Schanderof Roulette and Drive-In Grindhouse) look a little annoyed but decide to hear this stranger out. Discovering the Roulette revolver, the stranger decides to sit in the game. Guess it's hard to push the good book?

Hmm, that is a fifty on the ground but I might get clubbed.

On to Cannibal Maniac via writer/director/producer Kyle Rappaport (Horror Talk Movie Reviews, and Cannibal Maniac). The sit rep is a schmo goes down the stairs of a filthy basement to be stabbed by a nut in a mask that looks to weight about 150.   Not really that intimidating to my way of thinking but I could be wrong.  Schmo wakes up on a makeshift table in said basement a wee bit scared. A bit of shakey cam and gore effects on the inexpensive. Nothing new but well orchestrated. Got the whole found film footage feel to it.

Um we have a short that sounds like the funkadelic only found in porn titles. Feels like a PSA on how to steal a girl's man. The observation gags are funny, the girl has decent projection but I am not exactly sure what is going on.
Chad Media is POV and apparently our camera man is obsessed with Troma Scream Queen Debbie Rochon in the shower. Well...yeah can't really fault him. She is pretty damn gorgeous. Chad Media is so cheap they aren't giving the cameraman a salary but they can fix it to hook up with Debbie. Did they bother to tell her?

How about a Troma promo booty girl? Yeah why not. Twerk away. Then we get a punk cover and a Troma reel of hits. Kinda cool.

Now some slasher fun? The Killer Plumber 2: Here's Barry!!! Brought to us by director/actor/writer Ross Heath (The Killer Plumber, Halloween Hell Night, Knock Knock knock, and Pushed too Far) and writer/actor Chris John Livermore (Halloween Hell Night, Case Files, The Killer Plumber 2 and Creamy Boy) with actress Rahel Kapsaski (Xandermonium, Alice and the Last Lottery, Waxhouse Rock, Doctor Slime, Grindsploitation 666, Molly, and Mephisto's House of Ill Repute)
Clogged drain? Well clearly call the Killer Plumber. A deranged maniac perhaps, but his rates are quite reasonable. With a bit of handy cam, some homemade effects, and some unusual camera angles, this isn't a bad showcase of talent. Could use some lighting schemes and maybe a shotgun mic but overall sets the mood.

Young lady, stop sexting at the dinner table!

So with this collective levels of film skills, budget and creativity happening, it's time for the last gasp with Big Blind by director/writer Dane Keil (Creative Differences, Xenophobia, Make Games, Not War, Potatoes from Outer Space, Clownsploitation and Drive-In Grindhouse).
This film comes off as positively Noir in tone and vision. Already you have my attention, sir. With an undercover cop, Horace (Kelly Melerine of Decepticons, For Michelle, The Big Blind and Sanguine Addiction) inflitrated a high stakes poker game with a mob boss Tommy (Kevin J. O'Connor of Last Vegas, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Banshee, Constantine, Mile 22 and Drive-In Grindhouse) in the hopes to free his moll (mob girlfriend or misstress) Natalia (Victoria U Bell of the Getaway, The Big Blind, Your Lips Kiss Well, but They Lie Better and The Agony) from the scumbag's hands, it's all in the cards. This is shot like a pulp fiction dime novel with flashback sequences, grit and determination. Hey why are those mooks pummeling Lloyd Kaufman? Meh, maybe he owed them money. Tension is high, the henchmen look like they're about to jump our hero and I am completely digging the jazz as background music.

Ultimately, you have a plethora of talent operating on their own, striving to create original pieces and on a shoestring budget. Admittedly 3 and a half hours is fairly long but it really showcases what these folk can do with a bit of creativity and multiple genres. I mean there are several chunks of this I was really impressed with. Grab a copy on Troma Now and give it a watch. Maybe you'll enjoy it as well.

You will find the passages in the Necronomicon...

Death Proof

Hump Day! Yeah this week has been slipping by. Sinuses have been delightful. So I thought we would do some Tarantino from the double feature, Grindhouse. The Plant Terror segment was directed by Robert Rodriguez.   The term Grindhouse establishes marque or drive-ins exploitation films using vulgar language, sexual themes and extreme depictions of violence. The criteria biker flicks, slasher horror films and English Dubbed Martial Arts films. So with that, howzabout Kurt Russell as a villain, lovely ladies lives on the line and near indestructible car. This is Death Proof.

Girls' road trip!

Our story opens with the usual seventies style font for title cards, musical score piping through and confirming Tarantino's foot fetish. Oh sorry, did folks not know about that?

Three friends hit a bar in Texas to celebrate disk jockey "Jungle" Julia Lucai (Sydney Tamiia Poitier of Veronica Mars, Blues, Knight Rider, Kendra, Chicago P.D.and Carter), Shanna (Jordan Ladd of Embrace of the Vampire, Never Been Kissed, The Specials, Cabin Fever, Madhouse, Hostel: Part II and Robot Chicken)and Arlene (Vanessa Ferlito of 24, Spider-Man 2, Man of the House, Shadowboxer, CSI: NY, Graceland and NCIS: New Orleans) for two reasons, Jungle gets top slot and it's her birthday. The girls are hanging, gabbing and a bit of boy talk. Julia states on a radio announcement that her friend, "Butterfly" will give a free lap dance to the contestant that buys her a drink and quotes a passage from Robert Frost's Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. Some chicks are just demanding that way.

This is not a time period piece unless smartphones learned time travel. Arlene swears she saw the guy prior but our boy Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell of The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, Love, American Style, Superdad, Elvis and Used Cars) got her a drink and managed a recite pretty damn well. He earned his lap dance, one would conclude.

I'm so not blowing Kurt Russell....again.

The girls' party starts petering out and one of their friends Pam (Rose McGowan of Scream, Phantoms, Jawbreaker, Ready to Rumble, Charmed, Planet Terror and Nip/Tuck) needs a lift and Stuntman Mike is more than able to oblige.. His ride is unique. 100% Death Proof. That would make a decent sales pitch for a used car lot, right? He neglected to mention, you have to be on his side of the car. He peels out, finds Julia and party and smashes in them in such a fashion, it looks like the girls plowed right into him.

With his alcohol levels practically nil and the girls' higher than a Georgia pine, Mike is written off as the victim but Sheriff McGraw (Earl Parks of Arizona Heat, Twin Peaks, Sorceress, From Dusk Til Dawn, 13 Moons, Kill Bill: Vol.1, The Librarians, Kill Bill: Vol. 2, One Night with You and Red State) swears otherwise. With no hard evidence, he reluctantly let's Mike scram.

That'll buff right out.

14 months later, Mike is back to his old tricks again as he spots three good looking girls, Abernathy (Rosario Dawson of Josie and the Pussycats, The Rundown, Alexander, Sin City, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders), Kim (Tracie Thoms of Wonderfalls, Descent, Cold Case, Safe House, Looper and Raze) and Lee (Mary Elizabeth Winstead of Passions, Wolf Lake, Sky High, Scott Pilgrim vs.the World, Live Free or Die Hard and Fargo)
at a convenience store, snapping pics of them. Probably wanking in his car as well. Mike's kind of a scumbag as you may have figured out.

If Kurt's world is black &white, it just got a little cooler.

The girls are picking up a friend of theirs, Zoe Bell. (Zoe Bell of Billy Elliot, Angel of Death, Gamer, Whip It, Bitch Slap, Fallout: New Vegas, Raze and Mercenaries) Stuntwoman extraordinaire, buddy and race car junkie. She tells the girls she wants to test drive a 1970 Challenger, the same make and model of the 1971 flick, Richard C. Sarafian's Vanishing Point starring Barry Newman and Cleavon Little. The owner is reluctant until Abernathy tells the owner that Lee is in porn and will be staying behind while they test drive the car.
THANKS Abernathy!!

Will Stuntman Mike make another crack up? Will the girls be victimized? Will I keep the spoilers to a minimum?

And now a few film facts!!! Yeah hold your applause, those that are fleeing. Okay,
a)  The jukebox that is seen in the bar is actually our director, Quentin Tarantino's own personal jukebox that was trucked in and the list of albums are made by his discretion.

b) Stuntman Mike's rides are a 1969 Dodge Charger and a 1970 Chevy Nova.

c) Zoe Bell being a stunt double for Uma Thurman in the Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 was expecting to be an extra but in fact was surprised when Tarantino gave her the lead heroine role instead. How do you break that news? With a blown up pic of her on the cover of your film. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Lastly, d) This film is presented in chronological order and zero flashbacks!!! DOES NOT COMPUTE!!

On the ego killing front, this movie came out in 2007, which ages Kurt Russell at 56 and STILL his arms look like spun steel. Sorry, sorry. Just trying to bulk up. Hey we got a Wilhelm scream addition.

We also have characters from the zombie horror, Robert Rodriguez Planet Terror making appearances as this was events happening leading up to their film. The scratchy effect of the daily footage, cigarette burns and jump cuts are all on purpose to give a next to no budget exploitation flick and homage to the 70s. They actually used razor blades to scrape the footage rather than that cheesy digital overlay effect in post production. Yeah I can do that effect too, so I can appreciate the extra effort that went into this.

With Zoe doing her own stunts, I would be piss scared if anything happened to her but hey I am glad I didn't have to make that call. From lighting and music cues, it reminds me of Friday the 13th meets Race with the Devil. Simple story, good looking cast and some quality tunes. Dark story it may be, impressive nonetheless.

Cruisin' and jammin' to tunes.  Dear God I'm old.

The Mighty Gorga

Hey folks. Well the new year is upon us. 2019. So far New York hasn't fallen like in that George Eastman post apocalypse film so I will just have to move on. Yup, it wouldn't be Rotten Reelz Reviews without some goofy request so my dad asked me to give a dual pack a view and we will see how awful this is. Yes, I am convinced this will hurt as it is from Something Weird Video collection. For those not in the knowing, I'll spell it out. Exploitation Galore! Sci-fi, Action, Thrillers and Biker flicks a happenin'. So yeah let's cross our fingers and hope for the best. This is The Mighty Gorga a.k.a. Kong Island and Attack of the Death Monsters

General Aldo's drunk again!

Yupper we have a King Kong knock-off with multiple titles. Not since A*P*E* back in 2016. Ah memories. Can't find my damn car keys half of the time but I can recall a stinky banana biter flick.

Exploitation director/writer David L. Hewitt (The Time Travelers, Horrors of the Red Planet, Monsters Crash the Pajama Party, Gallery of Horror, Journey to the Center of Time and The Girls from Thunder Strip) brings us this particular cinematic wonder via 1969. We open with a maiden lashed to two trees left as a sacrifice by the natives. Now if this was a Joe D Amato flick, her nipples would have been iced to jut out and she would have a couple of shammies to cover her bits.
Moving right along, the circus is in full swing but the people are bored. Hmph, lions. Whatever. With a bit of exposition between a barker and one of the clowns, Mort. A bigwig circus conglomerate is looking to buy up the place for pennies on the dollar. Plot point, Scoob!!

Circus owner Mark Remington (Anthony Eisley of Hawaiian Eye, The Wasp Woman, The Naked Kiss and 77 Sunset Strip) is on the verge of bankrupt. Apparently dwarf tossing and freak shows are just not what 1969 crowds want anymore so he is following his leads of a giant gorilla guaranteed to keep the stands packed...or until a better pinball machine comes out.

An expedition made up of a circus owner and his tracker for hire are searching the African Jungle for a giant gorilla. Sounds kooky I know. White folks do this sort of bad touch Mother Nature all the time. Also Africa looks an awful lot like Boca Raton but maybe I am confused.

Almost Mannix.

Mark and his tracker/great white hunter, Tonga Jack (Kent Taylor of Sued for Libel, Four Girls in White, I'm Still Alive and Half Past Midnight) are in hot pursuit of the beastie when they find out Tonga's daughter has been kidnapped. Mark offers to aid Tonga in his time of need. Psst, Mark. Get a discount on your safari, bro. A rival hunter Morgan (Scott Brady of He Walked by Night, Canon City, Johnny Guitar, Lux Video Theatre and The Loretta Young Show) is um, well technically the bad guy but he is as equally greedy and bad touching the lands as Mark so I'm confused again.

April (Megan Timothy of Good Morning... and Goodbye!, Hells Chosen Few, Charro!, The Mighty Gorga, The Girls from Thunder Strip and The Female Bunch) proves to be the arm candy/love interest rather quickly and yes she is completely helpless and needs a big, strong man for saving her and so on. Ugh. She also has issues with rival business as Morgan keeps dropping by offering to buy out her property just a day or so after she has an "incident or accident". Just convienent he was in the neighborhood. Y'know after one of his flunkies tried trashing the place and failed. So similar subplots collide, Mark and April are clearly made for one another.

Jiggle! Maybe the monster will move on.

One point in the expedition, Mark and April come across some skulls on sticks and I just knew my butt puckered remembering all those Ruggero Deodato Cannibal flicks. Naturally the natives they hired are creeped because of ancient stories of giant monsters. To be fair, there is supposed to be a gargantuan gorilla in the jungle so I wouldn't scoff at them. Also that would be my stuff they are hauling so really don't want it trashed.

Laughed my ass off when I realize sub plot 3 has villagers sacrificing the virgins to Gorga and the witch doctor is Mort the Clown. Yes, actor Bruce Kimball (Hard on the Trail, Cain's Cutthroats, Rollercoaster and Drive In Massacre) has a double act for this flick. Quick question, are there regions of Africa that have that many Polynesian girls? They had a few on stand-by.

Subplot 4 has an old timey hidden treasure on this here island. Wait a minute, why are there volcanoes in Africa?

Okay normally I try to give a fair shake but the ADR (Automatic Dialogue Replacement) makes the sacrificial maiden sound like she is moaning in the booth. We couldn't hear Gorga half of the time and the staged recordings are clearly indoors while the scene shots are outside and the mono sounds goofy.  The Gorilla is passable but the T-Rex (Oh of course there's a T-Rex) is clearly a kid's puppet superimposed against Mark and it looks damn silly.

I'm no good at confrontation!

At the end of the day you have an underdog story of the little capitalist trying to stay afloat while corporation is gobbling up the competition. And a lost treasure, some superstitious natives in red face and King Kong and well I get baffled what I am supposed to be getting from this. Is it a bad flick? No, not really. It is a good flick? Yeah gonna have to say, no. A lot of good ideas but not enough budget or way to hone all those ideas into something coherent. Little bit of CGI stock footage of previous dinosaur flicks and it would clean right up. I think.

Yes I am the "eye candy", what of it?

Hot Lead Hard Fury

And we are back, my people. So hope you enjoyed the binge watching of Luke Cage Season 2. Today's endeavor was supposed to be done on Saturday but a migraine boned my scheduling. Our feature length film this fine Sunday is of the exploitation genre but a retro vibe over all. Meaning our ballsy director/writer/editor Mike Olafson (Galleons and Gold, Gears, Grease and Guitars, Motor Vixens and Hot Lead Hard Fury) had the audacity to film in 8mm and then convert to HD. Already I am stoked. This is Hot Lead Hard Fury.

You were expecting Black Belt Jones?

In the streets of Steel City, a new drug is sweeping its way through the town like a plague. The city has become a haven for corruption, violence and a new designer drug called Voodoo Blue.
Described as a mixture of coke with LSD, you know that combo is going to do a body good.

When a drug sting goes belly up Detective Cal Beefer (Mike Malloy of Escape Back to the Movies,The Scarlet Worm, Naples Never Dies... It Shoots!, Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance and Page-Jumper) has been made a chalk outline, his brother Chuck (writer/actor Jesse Frazier)rolls into town to take over what baby brother Cal couldn't finish.

Man, screw Superfly. I gots the connections.

With a seventies blues montage intro we have the drug sting gone bad, our villains cackling over their evil deeds and Chuck showing off his mad skills. Yes I did laugh at his Bruce Lee Game of Death inspired tracksuit.  But that's okay.   I see the theme going.  It's all good.   Some of the car chase montage feels a bit like The Sweeny and The Mechanic.   Y'know, good things of the seventies.

The airport meet-up for the drug buy looks almost like Mohave Air and Space Port but I could be wrong.  Near Edwards Air Force Base on Highway 58.  The shoot out with the plain clothes cops and Zhang Brotherhood was hand held and raw.  Handlebar mustaches galore.   Ron whooping some ass was amazing to watch.  Enough freeze frames and dissolves to make you think this is the most graphic Charlie's Angels episode you ever did see.

So Chuck Beefer, an ex-cop living in Detroit hears about his brother's passing and knows it's up to him to clean up Steel City's streets. Under the command of Captain Columbus Jackson (Rodrico of Hot Lead Hard Fury), these boys are coming to town and baby they packing. Former dirt bike champion Jack Hammer (Mike Olafson of Hot Lead Hard Fury) is running surveillance on our brotherhood and the flow of Voodoo Blue. Looks like they got things wired.

Foxy and fierce!

A rival gang known as the Sisters of Sin want in on the Voodoo Blue racket as these bodacious, buxom badass babes don't take no for an answer. All these murders and drug running link up to Afro Steel, biggest hustler of Voodoo Blue. With this much action going on, can Beefer get his revenge and bring these bastards down?

Now a bit of trivia or side note if you will, Ron "Black Dragon" Van Clief of The Black Dragon's Revenge a.k.a. The Black Dragon Revenges the Death of Bruce Lee, The Last Dragon, Way of the Black Dragon andColorz of Rage is in this. Yeah a 10th degree black belt of Karate, former USMC of Vietnam era and instructor for the Secret Service. This cat has done quite a bit for the Blaxploitation genre similar to Jim Kelly. The jump cut fight sequences were killing me.

Yes parents, this is probably not one for the kiddies to watch.  Depending on your take on blood and T&A.   Definitely needed some porn staches to the likes of Harry Reems or Ron Jeremy but maybe that was a tall order.

Weapons are almost completely period piece accurate.   Seeing an Ecoline 350 with bubble windows on the sides, I thought I'd choke on my Coke.  The blood with the rich red and orange before the black food dye introduction.

Loving the rough, grainy look to the film stock giving it just enough to suggest this isn't a current movie.  With minor exposition, characters coming out of the woodwork you get a great feel like Jack Hill's Switchblade Sisters or Arthur Marks' Detroit 9000.  With a touch of Michael Cimino's Thunderbolt and Lightfoot for seasoning.  Half expected Vonetta McGee or Yaphet Kotto to grace the screen.   Just under 2 hours, this was a lot of fun.   These jive ass turkeys might just pull it off.

Damn, his gun smokes almost as much as he does.
