Knockoff Week: Robo Vampire

Well hello everyone, the week is upon us and we have a theme already. I know you all enjoyed the Bloodsucker sequels last week. This time around we are looking at knock off movies. The popular films of the states clearly need something, sorta kinda near equivalence of the same film. So the best way to appreciate a blockbuster is the imitation is which as we all know is the most sincere form of flattery. So what is the best why combine Robocop with a necromancer that creates vampires?? What? Is that not a thing??? You sure??? This is Robo Vampire.

So our misleading title is not compromised of a cybernetic vampire that kicks ass for the lord...although I might start writing that instead of this review. Okay, bye!!

Yeah I am just messing with you. Our opus opens with two pseudo guards holding a guy at gunpoint. They open some crates and are startled by snakes. Oh why did it have to be snakes??

Our calamity guards waste about 12 rounds to deal with the snakes and I really hope they are rubber but as this is an infamous Godfrey Ho movie, nah they smoked real ones would be my guess.

Who is Godfrey Ho? Well I have not covered this particular "director" extensively so I will give you the high lights. With no less than 132 titles under his belt, Godfrey Ho is known as the cut and paste director taking films that were never finished or simply not released and then splice them in with either a ninja, a commando or a zombie theme in there. Yeah two separate movies are now seamlessly blended together to make a film. Plot A and B always mesh with the newer film upchucking a collection of dialogue that is supposed to make the audience believe that the continuous exposition with sum up all the action you saw prior. SPOILER ALERT! It never does.

Narcotics agent Tom Wilde (probably cousin to Ted Fast of the Gigantic Serpent) is the best there is. An elite warrior in this modern day. An expert in melee, firearms and hand to hand combat..so of course he dies. The End. Oh right, I forgot. They rebuild him stronger, faster and better than he was. With what looks like an outfit consisting of pleather bags hastily sewn together. Unlike superior cyborgs, Wilde 2.0 is equipped not with a 9mm burst set SMG pistol but in fact a flamethrower. You almost immediately get the vibe there was no real supervisors with this. DUCK!

What I have learned about Chinese vampires thus far is they have no fangs, look like juicy and bubbled and they bound at their prey like they enjoyed Frogger. About as terrifying as an ingrown toe nail. I am officially annoyed in a minute twenty eight. No, I am not being silly or sarcastic. A heavy belt or box fed M-60 has been relegated to being semi-auto, bouncing vampire and our "soldiers" are wearing Converse sneakers instead of even Vietnam jungle boots!!!!! Granted Converse is cool but I am not sure they wanted their product plugged in a Godfrey Ho movie. A syndicate is moving bodies instead of heroin which pays better I guess. I don't know. I have lost all feeling in my front lobe and I am on just brain stem right this moment. Oh I see now, it is offloading vampires and heroin to your competitors to fang them all, take the money and keep the drugs! Brilliant!

RoboTom joins forces with another agent Sophie to thwart vampire necromancer Italian villain played by Italian Master of Manos: The Hands of Fate as he hatches the evil scam to train vampires to thwart their every move! Brilliant! I see no holes in this diabolical scheme! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Then I will unleash my army of gigantic mutated vicious hamsters to devour their crops!!! Okay I made up the hamsters but seriously the henchmen look shocked they still work for this lunatic.

So if you need a drinking game crappy themed movie knockoff film, then look no further. If you want a movie with choppy editing, bad English dubbing, piss poor blocking so bad you cannot tell who is talking and lines that would stagger most thinking beings, oh you're in luck. Thankfully this turd waffle is only an hour and 24 minutes but you will swear to your deity of choice that it was much longer and far more grueling than even a Twilight twinklefest movie.

Bloodsucker Sequels: Dracula III: Legacy

Howdy all and greetings to Day 5 of Bloodsuckers Sequels. Yes it is that time again as we wrap up the week. We have had our chills and spills, our laughs and languishing story arcs. Today we finish up the Patrick Lussier trilogy that is the collective Dracula 2000. Spoilers a plenty ahead! If you do not wish to partake then read a latter review I guess. For those of you that are never gonna watch this movie anyway, welcome. Father Uffizi and Luke have made their way into Translyvania, in the heart of Dracula's domain. To rid the world of this evil, possibly save Liz and make the planet safer. This is Dracula III: Legacy.

Father Uffizi (Jason Scott Lee of Back to the Future II, Ghoulies Go to College, Map of the Human Heart, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, The Jungle Book, Tale of the Mummy, Soldier, Lilo & Stitch, Timecop: The Berlin Decision and The Prophecy: Forsaken and Seventh Son) and Luke (Jason London of Dazed and Confused, Mixed Signals, Broken Vessels, The Rage: Carrie 2, Jason and the Argonauts and Grind) have been on the trail of Dracula and his bloody swath he enjoys making him rather easy to track.

Uffizi of course is on a mission to rid the world of Dracula and contain his remains in the Vatican. Due to his infection he fights off every morning, the transformation of vampirism feels like it is winning and only his will keeps it at bay. Luke's standing is still smitten with Liz (Diane Neal of Dracula II: Ascension, Second Born, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NCIS, Power, Suits and NCIS: New Orleans) and hopes to be reunited with her and be with her.

Along with Dracula's vampiric drones left to torment or slaughter our terrific twosome, the villages residing under the mountaintop castle are not better off. Between the warring factions of a human civil war the rebels attempting to gain ground because the government has long since thrown their lot in with Dracula, this is some dangerous countryside.

Um, I think Liz is just hungry now.

With human lackeys restocking Dracula's larder, a journalist name of Juila Hughes (Alexandra Wescourt of Brookside, LAX, Dracula III: Legacy and Watch Over Me) who befriends the father and Luke as they are try to make their way to the castle. With acres and acres of forest, human and vampires alike roaming and of course whatever such creatures in the area, our heroes have a long way to travel. Now we are going a bit more old school so none of the hip and young kids and their short-term vampirism but we have the old school dungeon harem of wenches under the fang, barely clothed, covered in dry blood and basically closer to Stoker.

Why Dracula is now Rutger Hauer??!! not 1980's I am built like a swimmer Rutger Hauer but 61 year old (now 72) had a close relationship with booze and finally off the wagon Hauer. So yeah I was not prepared for this new Dracula regeneration er um I mean resurrection. When you watch his scenes with his chambers are adorn with a buttload of TVs all over the place. I guess immortality takes its toll and he regresses to a more evil and worn look... or something that convoluted of that nature. Most of his lines felt goofy and it was said Hauer improvised a lot so that makes a bit more sense.

Luke of course is still fighting on instinct and no real training to speak of. Sheesh Uffizi, help the kid out. Will they defeat Dracula and his evils? Can Transylvania ever be rid of the monsters man and inhuman alike? Is this gag too drawn out?

Now don't get me wrong. This film as a whole is pretty good for the stigma of "B-Movie" and the script and directing are fair. Just some of Hauer's lines are just silly and out of place for this gothic horror they are trying to give us. I mean, "There are no dead here, just the f**ked-up dead!" seemed a bit ridiculous. Not a bad film and rather entertaining but given the copious amount of scattered undead ass and graphic violence you may want the kiddies to go watch something else.

Bloodsucker Sequels: Dracula II: The Ascension

Hiya gang and welcome back for Day 4 of Bloodsucker Sequels. Hey remember when director/writer Patrick Lussier retold the legend of Dracula in the year 2000? Thus getting the title Dracula 2000? What ever became of Simon Shepard and Mary Van Helsing? Did they ever drag down the smoking remains of Dracula and entomb in the crypt under Carfax Abbey? What if none of those questions will be answered at all? Then you would have a sequel ignoring its own storyline. This is Dracula II: Ascension.

So the fairly well spoken narrative of Mary being her father's daughter and the keeper of Dracula's remains...yeah we can toss that notion right out the window. RETCON! Hours after Dracula transmogrifies to Mr. Crispy due to intense ultraviolet rays he is wheeled into the morgue.  Prior to this reveal is our beginning story in Transylvania with Father Uffizi (Jason Scott Lee of Back to the Future II, Ghoulies Go to College, Map of the Human Heart, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, The Jungle Book, Tale of the Mummy, Soldier, Lilo & Stitch, Timecop: The Berlin Decision and The Prophecy: Forsaken and Seventh Son) with twin vamp girls (Jennifer Kroll of Weird Science, Cybill and Dracula II: Ascension) when he was injured by one of the vamps corrupting him. He walks in the sun and flogs himself to purge the evil.

Now according to a friend of mine who watched this with the commentary on; it was stated that the master of vampires' body was swapped for another and Mary ended up claiming another charred corpse and stowed him away. Apparently that scene just wasn't worth filming or maybe it hit the cutting floor. There goes her pre-natural senses. Interns Luke (Jason London of Dazed and Confused, Mixed Signals, Broken Vessels, The Rage: Carrie 2, Jason and the Argonauts and Grind)and Liz (Diane Neal of Dracula II: Ascension, Second Born, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NCIS, Power, Suits and NCIS: New Orleans) work to move the body for an experimentation when they see the body healing on its own from third degree burns of bone and ash.

Professor Lowell (Craig Sheffer of Nightbreed, A River Runs Through It, Hellraiser: Inferno, One Tree Hill and The Mark) suffering from palsy feels this is the real first step to repairing his on diseased cells. Along for the ride of science and the macabre is fellow intern/students Kenny (Khary Payton of Street Sharks, Certain Guys, Latter Days, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Teen Titans, Friday: The Animated Series, Ben 10, The Sims 3, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 and Young Justice) and bubbly Tanya (Brande Roderick of Club Wild Side 2, Stripper Wives, Baywatch, Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding, Starsky & Hutch, Lucky 13 and The Daily Habit). So off to flirt with damnation and death then!

A middle man Eric meets to explain that large sacks of money are on their way if the kids play ball. Lowell goes on to explain the mythos of Dracula as he can apparently change his appearance after every resurrection (Hang on a tic, that's the Doctor's racket you hornin' in on, mate!) and their paltry explaination why Gerald Butler is not reprising his former role but now a platinum blonde man (Stephen Billington of Out of the Blue, Highlander: The Raven, Cornation Street, Resident Evil, Young Arthur, The Prophecy: Uprising, A Life in Suitcases and Hollyoaks) who flirts with Liz. With Luke being the only real one of sound mind, he goes shopping for holy water, knotted rope and seeds following the vampire mythos of their need to untie knots, count seeds and well holy water probably burns like the Dickens. Meanwhile, Father Uffizi is on the trail for Dracula as well and Heaven help whomever stops him.

Will tampering with Dracula lead to bodies hitting the floor? Should Luke pour holy water all over himself? Can Liz stop flittering between her collective men?

Patrick Lussier really wanted Dracula to be the pinnacle apex of evil so Billington claims to be to be Gilles de Rais (Knight and Marshal who was a companion at arms with Joan of Arc dabbled in satanism and child murder), Vlad Tepes (House of Draculesti, Prince of Wallachia and Vlad the Impaler), Proximus (Dux or General of Roman Legion) and of course Judas the Betrayer. It was if though Dracula was not evil enough and had to show the audience oh yes, this is a very bad man in case SOMEHOW you forgot that. While the first film dealt with shades of gray (Not 50!), Lussier feels the need to hammer it in your skull that Dracula is the personification of all that is evil. Subtle touch.

The effects of CGI blood and practical are a decent mesh but I would have preferred more practical vs CGI. It captures better on film. Jason Scott Lee's character is a righteous wrathful man that seems like the instrument of righteous cruelty rather than a man of God so it was interesting watching him balance the two sides of himself. Location wise this is a gorgeous region of hills, mountains and township to capture on film and connected in the heart of the mythos and Stoker's own writings. Overall this is not a bad movie but it does contradict a lot of the first film.

Bloodsucker Sequels: Fright Night Part 2

Welcome back my fine fellow and lady readers. We are back for Day 3 of Bloodsucker Sequels and after the SNAFU of yesterday forgetting about Fright Night's lack of review, today we are ready for its sequel. Yeah we will not be looking over the 2011 remake nor the straight-to-DVD 2013 remake to the sequel. If anyone is interested in that sequel, the late Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots or David Tennant so not sure how much fun it could be. 3 years after the first film we find Charley in college and enjoying the student body. This is Fright Night Part 2.

Three years after that terrifying night of facing down Jerry Dandridge and his manservant, Charley (William Ragsdale of Fright Night, Smooth Talk, Mannequin: On the Move, Herman's Head, Ellen, Just a Little Harmless Sex, Brother's Keeper, Grosse Pointe, Judging Amy, Big Momma's House 2 and Road House 2: Last Call) is a typical, horny college student all twitterpated with his new lady love, psych major Alex (Traci Lind of Moving, Survival Quest, Fright Night Part 2, Spellcaster, Class of 1999, No Secrets, Bugsy, My Boyfriend's Back, The End of Violence and No Strings Attached). Guess Amy wasn't his "forever" girl. Charley is coming to terms on what happened and starts to believe it was all in his head and forgets that vampires are real... until four strangers make their way to town traveling with noted actress/performance artist Regine (Julie Carmen of Gloria, Condo, The Milagro Beanfield War, Falcon Crest, Blue City, Lovers, Partners & Spies, Paint It Black, Kiss Me a Killer, Seduced by Evil, In the Mouth of Madness and the Omen) will be appearing on Peter Vincent's Fright Night show. Peter (Roddy McDowall of That Darn Cat!, Batman, Planet of the Apes, The Legend of Robin Hood, Journey to Murder, Pretty Maids All in a Row, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Poseidon Adventure, The Legend of Hell House, Planet of the Apes TV series, The Fantastic Journey and Circle of Iron) feels slighted after offering his best years to this show but also feels as if Regine is more than she seems.

Along with Regine is her familiar or daytime protector Bozworth (Brian Thompson of Cobra, Werewolf TV series, Fright Night Part 2, Alien Nation, Key West, Kindred: The Embraced, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files) a ripped, built Reinfield that enjoys the scientific name of his delicacies i.e.bugs before ingesting them, werewolf Louie (Jon Gries of Helter Skelter, Real Genius, Running Scared, The Monster Squad, Fever, Martin, Men in Black, The Pretender and Lost) and Belle (dance choreographer/actor Russell Clark of Cinderella, Laura Branigan: Self Control, Body Rock, Catch the Heat, Fright Night Part 2 and The Temptations) a smooth criminal..nah just a wild eyed, rocking the roller skates vampire with ace 80s threads.

Believing Charley's stories may not be stories after all, Alex goes to Peter Vincent for help to take down this new blight of the supernatural. With a bit more ice in his veins, Peter agrees, loads up his case of goodies and heads out to assist Alex in saving Charley.

Will Alex and Peter make it in time? Can Regine be stopped? Will I ever stop this gag?

Working as editor and actor under John Carpenter, Tommy Lee Wallace (director of Halloween III: Season of the Witch, The Twilight Zone, Tour of Duty, And the Sea Will Tell, Born Free: A New Adventure, Steel Chariots, Final Justice and Vampires: Los Muertos)brings his "A" game to the film. Ragsdale and McDowall are a wonderful combo and play well off each other. Julie Carmen is stunning to the eye and still managed to creep me out. If you loved the original, allow me to say this is one of those few films that is on par with the first one. Less eye candy for the ladies aside from Brian Thompson's rippling build.

Bloodsucker Sequels : Fright Night

Welcome back ladies and gents to Bloodsucker Sequels. Now I know I am violating this concept already but I never got around to reviewing this particular title prior and then tomorrow I can do its sequel good and proper. What do you do when your next door neighbor is a monster? Well don't call the cops. Get Blade. No Blade option? Burn down the house...or you go the route of Charley Brewster. This is Fright Night.

Tater tots on Ala carte??  Hot damn!

Welcome to Fright Night. For real. An excellent line for a cheeseball 80's horror film full of fun, goofs, gore and some sythesizer music with sweet, sweet jazz. Horror buff, comic book nerd Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale of Fright Night, Smooth Talk, Mannequin: On the Move, Herman's Head, Ellen, Just a Little Harmless Sex, Brother's Keeper, Grosse Pointe, Judging Amy, Big Momma's House 2 and Road House 2: Last Call) is a typical, horny teenager ruled by his hormones and girlfriend Amy (Amanda Bearse of All My Children, Protocol, Fright Night, Married with Children, The Doom Generation, Give or Take an Inch and Shy Sharks) won't give it up. Bummer dude! Meh, like I care if the kids are screwing like bunnies.

Psst Charley, vampire wingman get you laid!

To help distract him of his blue balls, a has-been actor that host a late night TV show Fright Night, Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall of That Darn Cat!, Batman, Planet of the Apes, The Legend of Robin Hood, Journey to Murder, Pretty Maids All in a Row, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Poseidon Adventure, The Legend of Hell House, Planet of the Apes TV series, The Fantastic Journey and Circle of Iron) to tell tales of vampires slain and how to dispatch them... foreshadow much? Next door the house that has been abandoned on the block for ages has a van move up on it as two men unload items and one of those items resembles a coffin? How bizarre.

Jerry Danridge (Chris Sarandon of Dog Day Afternoon, The Day Christ Died, Protocol, Fright Night, The Princess Bride, Child's Play, Slaves of New York, Whispers, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Bordello of Blood and Let the Devil Wear Black) appears to be a charming, sexy and captivating man about town but only at night. Charley witnesses Jerry feeding on a lady of ill repute and see his manservant Billy (Project X, House II: The Second Story, Rain Man, The Spirit of '76, Career Opportunities, Mom and Dad Save the World, Ellen and Stop It) take plastic bags out roughly about the size of a body.

Amy and Charley's buddy Ed "Evil Ed" (Stephen Geoffreys of Fright Night, At Close Range, 976-EVIL, Moon 44, Wild Blade, Sex on the Beach, The Leather Virgin, Motel Sex, Manhunt, Cock Pit, Butt Blazer, Buff and Gay and Private Temptations) harass Peter Vincent to convince Charley that he has an overactive imagination. Low and behold Jerry cast no reflexation in a mirror. Jerry abducts Amy later in the evening and leaves Charley to bring Vincent into his fight against the undead. Can Charley and Peter fight Jerry and his manservant? Will they save Amy before she is turned?

SFX creature FX gurus Dale Brady and Bill Sturgeon (Ghostbusters, Aliens, House, The Blob, Cast a Deadly Spell, Demented, The Thing, Howling II: ... Your Sister Is a Werewolf and Beetlejuice) do a combination of prosthetic makeup and appliances and some stop motion creatures with skeletal and mechanical designs.

It is campy, gory and a lot of fun. Don't take it seriously and you will enjoy it that much more and well straight ladies and gay fellas, Chris Sarandon shirtless in the 80s will be worth the viewing.

Bloodsucker Sequels: Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

Welcome back readers of the blog. I really need come up with better intros. I felt this week we would look at some sequels to existing vampire movies that may or may not have had an impact on its viewers. For better or worse sort of viewing. Now some of these films were relegated to straight-to-DVD while others got big screen time but in a finite viewing capacity. Nevertheless I shall endeavor to give them an objective screening as much as humanly possible. This time around we gander at the sequel to 1985 anime Vampire Hunter D, which between gorgeous artwork, decent storyline and a substantial English and Japanese voice cast breathed life into the undead. Can the 2000 sequel do the same? This is Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

The house has seen better days.

Alas Toyoo Ashida (director of Heidi: A Girl of the Alps, Space Cruiser Yamato III, Fist of the North Star, Fist of the North Star 2 and Vampire Hunter D) did not take the helm as the sequel's director but instead Yoshiaki Kawajiri (director/animator of Lensman, Wicked City, Ninja Scroll and Bio Hunter) giving an almost ethereal look to his main characters. An otherworldly beauty even to the monsters. As with its predecessor, the story is set thousands of years into the future after the nuclear war of 1999, this ballparks our storyline somewhere about 12,090 A.D. where thanks to bands of hunters, vampires become less and less active and their numbers have been diminished. Obscene bounties have been put upon vampire heads causing bounty hunters of different ilk to rise up and smite them for that huge chunk of change. Our vampire Meier Link (John Rafter Lee of Aeon Flux, Black Jack: The Movie, Todd McFarlane's Spawn, Spawn 2, Spawn 3, Trigun, Reign: The Conqueror, Vampire: The Masquerade- Redemption and Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex) exhibits telekinesis, the undead aura that wilts flowers and puts animals at ill ease as he scoops up his intended victim Charlotte (Wendee Lee of Bleach, Ninja Gaiden 3, Monster High: Ghouls Rule!, Resident Evil: Damnation, Conan the Barbarian: Queen of the Black Coast and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls).

Among these hunters, one stands out as he tackles the vampires on his own. Aloft his cybernetic horse, black garbs and long sword, he rides to the regions that need his help whether they like it or not. The money almost seems secondary to him. The dhampyr vampire hunter solely known as D (Andrew Philpot of Castle in the Sky, Almost Dead, Bio Hunter, Tenchi Muyo! In Love, Magical Project S, Reign: The Conqueror and The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury). His only companion is a symbiote that resides in his left hand. A creature able to think, talk, create vortexes of wind, psychometry (able to read events associated with objects, people and even the timelines the objects were used) , induces sleep and acts like a medical scanner for victims of the supernatural. Handy, ain't he? I'll slap myself for that bad of a pun later. Left Hand is voiced by comedian/improv/voice actor Michael McShane (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, UK Who's Line Is It Anyway, Spawn, Final Fantasy X-2, Evil Alien Conquerors, Death and Texas and Wayward Pines)

The Markus brothers, a collective of vampire hunters have a day's headstart of D as they use a steam based tank outfitted with bolt throwers, crucifixes and their own unique fighting styles and weapons dealing with Link's cadre of undead minions. Looks like he remade an entire village to greet trespassers.

Can the Markus brothers and D work together? Will D have to journey alone?

For some reason the Japanese to English translation is calling the Dhampyr (child of a human and vampire) a dunpeal.  Bit of a goof I am guessing.  This film is a straight up adaptation from creator Hideyuki Kikuchi (Genmu senki Leda, Vampire Hunter D, Wicked City, Demon City Shinjuku, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, The Vanished and Vampire Hunter D: Resurrection) keeping it pretty faithful to the original source material and Kikuchi believes in incorporating all aspects of mythos using wooden stakes, beheading with swords and silver blades, bolts and bullets. A mixture of cyberpunk, steampunk and Romanian mythos this story pushes the envelope of augmented people, shapeshifters and werewolves to make you wonder is there any normal humans out there? It's moody, eerie and fascinating all together wrapped up in one anime. On par with its original but I do not feel it surpasses it. Still a good flick.

Dustin Ferguson: The Amityville Legacy

Welcome back everyone. Sorry for the no-show on Friday but it was my lady's day off and we decided to go out and do dating fun for the day. Now this next flick gets mixed reviews on IMDB. I have read everything from insensitive comments about a "Gay Agenda" to none of the crew or cast should ever give up their day job. Firstly, I have no idea what a gay agenda even means and secondly this cast and crew bust ass with a finite budget. To which I say to the naysayers, "Write it, direct and star in it if you can do so much better." Today's moving picture is linked with the ominious to the DeFeo home of Amityville in the form of an antique toy monkey once resided in said home. Soon enough it starts effecting the gifted and those around it. This is Amityville Legacy.

It's 1974 and Mr. Defeo (Eric Moyer of Blood Rites, Flyover Country, Shivers Down Your Spine: Birthday Dinner, The Eyes of Isabelle, Cheerleader Camp: To the Death, Blood Claws and Camp Blood 5) is cleaning house with a 30.30 systematically blasting those that are sleeping snug in their beds or so it would be perceived. Yes I do feel some Wilhelm stock screams could assist or just the actors/actresses getting a good ADR scream going can always help but honestly that is just an afterthought as Defeo is making the rounds to every room, we finish hearing a little girl scream and another blast.

Okay campers, let's get to Perkins!

40 years later, a family get together is under way and with it all the usual tension as the kids and their significant others are heading home for a home cooked meal and celebrate their dad Mark's (Mark Popejoy of Die Sister, Die!, The Eyes of Isabelle, Gloved Murderess and Shivers Down Your Spine)50^th birthday.

Family roll call!  Aunt Cheyenne (Cheyenne King of Fist of the Vampire, Demons Rising, Scamelot, Terrible Angels and The Amityville Legacy) is a bit of a lush, young Britany (Britany Dailey of Blood Rites, Cheerleader Camp: To the Death, Shockumentary and The Amityville Legacy) appears to be 6 months along with child and gasp; no hubby, heart of gold and responsible one Julia (Julia Farrell of Flyover Country, The Eyes of Isabelle, Shivers Down Your Spine:Whispering Board, Cheerleader Camp: To the Death, Silent Night, Bloody Night 2: Revival and Demon Dolls) brother Tony (Terrorphobia, Camp Blood 4, The Amityville Legacy and the Coldest Blood)and his boyfriend Jade (Jade Michael LaFont of The Inherited, Night of the Demons, Wolvesbayne, Evil Deads 2, Evil Deeds 3, Evil Deeds: Full Circle, Camp Blood 4 and The Slayer) Jennii, the bad girl and budding lush (The Legacy of Boggy Creek, Silly Scaries, Escape to Black Tree Forest, Doll Killer, Die Sister, Die!, Gloved Murderess and Silent Night Bloody Night2: Revival) Breana (Breana Mitchell of Black Forest II, Doll Killer, Die Sister, Die!, Gloved Murderess, Cheerleader Camp: To the Death, Invitation to Die, Silent Night, Bloody Night 2: Revival, and Blood Claws)and her analytical boyfriend Dan (Daniel Steir of The Amityville Legacy) and mischievous cousin Schyular (Schyular Craig of Shockumentary, Blood Claws, Camp Blood 4, Camp Blood 5, The Amityville Legacy and Blood Model). Presents are doled out and yes as per usual he get at least one crappy tie. If you love your father, don't give the crappy tie. The eerie toy monkey makes to light and reminds Mark of the one he had as a boy.

Never....saw...Venice.

Mark starts seeing Defeo slipping into his madness and Defeo even offers him his 30.30 as a present to take them all out. The music and lighting get downright chilling. The flies start into Mark's mind as he is slowly going off the rails and his dead father visits him telling what a failure he is and how his family needs to die.

Love the red and blue lighting in the background, kind of an Argento feel to the movie, the synthesizer is a nice touch to add atmosphere and keep in mind, less violence is always better with psychological thriller and supernatural as your own brain fills in the blanks. The aerial shots looks like a drone being put to good use and maybe some cherry picker truck work really brings some great cinematography.

 Popejoy truly looks like he is coming apart at the seams and hellbent to remove anything and everything out of his way.   It pays homage to the series and there was no crappy 3-D effects or a satanic lamp trying to do everyone in so honestly pretty enjoyable.    Oh FYI, that evil lamp comment was not a joke.  Amityville: The Evil Escapes (1989)   Yup, a producer spent money on that idea.  

I sat through The Amityville Terror with a budget gauged at $500,000 and while the cast and crew were competent, the film had no set pace or real direction sense. Yet this movie with a limited budget, collective alumni of Ferguson and time constraints due to lives being lived still manages to deliver.

Seriously this house needs an exorcist!
